Efficiency Bar Examination III for Pirivena 
Teachers, Approved Appointment-Holding 
Teachers in Government-Approved Private 
Schools, and Approved Appointment-Holding 
Teachers in Assisted Special Schools – 2026
IT is hereby notified that the Department of Examinations, 
Sri Lanka, will conduct the Efficiency Bar Examination III 
in December 2026 and this examination is conducted in 
accordance with the provisions of the Third Amendment 
to the Sri Lanka Teacher Service Minute, published in 
the Extraordinary Gazette Notification of the Democratic 
Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka No. 2444/21 dated 
08.07.2025, and the Fourth Amendment to the Sri Lanka 
Teacher Service Minute, published in the Extraordinary 
Gazette Notification of the Democratic Socialist Republic 
of Sri Lanka No. 2493/61 dated 19.06.2026 and it is 
also hereby notified that opportunities are provided for 
Pirivena Teachers, approved appointment-holding teachers 
in government-approved private schools, and approved 
appointment-holding teachers in assisted special schools to 
sit for this examination.This examination will be held only 
at the examination centers established in the cities specified 
in Schedule I, and subsequent changes to the requested 
city/cities will not be permitted. If an insufficient number 
of candidates apply for a particular city to establish an 
examination center, those candidates will be redirected to 
an examination center established in the city indicated as 
their second preference or another adjacent city. Further, 
if an insufficient number of candidates apply across all or 
most of the proposed cities, the Commissioner General 
of Examinations will make arrangements to conduct the 
examination in Colombo only.
Applications are available on the website of the 
Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka (www.doenets.lk) 
under "Our Services" via "Online Applications – 
Recruitment/E.B. Exams". Applications can be submitted 
via the Online method only. The acceptance of online 
applications will be started on September 14th, 2026, at 09:00 
AM and closed on September 30th ,2026, at 09:00 PM. Once 
the application is submitted online, it must be downloaded, 
and two (02) printed copies thereof must be obtained. The 
relevant sections on both copies must be completed in 
handwriting, the applicant's signature must be attested, and 
one copy, along with the certification of the Zonal Director 
of Education, must be included in the applicant's personal 
file. The other copy must be retained in the custody of the 
applicant to be presented whenever required.
The applicant must bear any adverse consequences resulting 
from delaying the submission of applications until the 
closing date.

I.	 Candidates are subject to the rules and regulations 
prescribed by the Commissioner General of 
Examinations regarding the conduct of this 
examination. 
	
II.	 The rules enacted for obtaining candidature are 
printed separately in the Gazette. If these rules 
are violated, candidates will be subject to any 
punishment imposed by the Commissioner General 
of Examinations. 
	
III.	 Only Officers specified under Section 12.0 of the 
aforementioned services are eligible to apply for 
this examination.
	
IV.	 If applicants with special needs are appearing for 
this examination, it must be mandatorily stated in 
the application form, and copies of the relevant 
medical certificates must be submitted to the 
Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka, along 
with a printed copy of the application.
3.0	 EXAMINATION FEES:
Since this Efficiency Bar Examination is being 
conducted for the first time, no examination fee shall 
be charged.
4.0	 SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS:
	
The online examination application must be completed 
in the English language only. The department will 
notify the applicant via SMS to the mobile phone 
number used to access the system, or via E-mail, 
whether the soft copy submitted online has been 
accepted/ or rejected, as a valid application. Download 
the instruction sheet prepared for applying for 
examinations before completing the online application. 
Follow those instructions accurately when filling out 
the application. No amendment made to the application 
after obtaining a printed copy will be considered as a 
valid amendment. Incomplete applications will be 
rejected without any notification.
5.0 Candidates must prove their identity inside the 
examination hall for every subject they appear for to 
the satisfaction of the Supervisor. Only the following
