Syllabus
Intelligence Test and General Knowledge
This paper consists of questions aimed at judging the 
candidate's logical thinking, analytical thinking, and 
ability to make decisions.
Subject-related General Knowledge
Current Electricity – Direct Current (D.C.) Electricity, 
Ohm’s Law, Kirchhoff’s Law, Potential Difference, 
Methods of Measuring Current.
Magnetism – Electromagnetism
Static Electricity – Coulomb’s Law
Waves – Electromagnetic Waves
Electronic Physics – Semiconductor Diodes and 
Transistors.
Heat – Expansion, Coefficient of Linear Expansion.
Mathematics – Trigonometric Functions
Newtonian Physics
Electrical Machines – (D.C. Motors, A.C. Motors, 
Transformers)
Practical Vocational Test
Basic knowledge relevant to the field, knowledge of 
installation and repair of equipment, identification of 
faults in equipment relevant to the field, knowledge of 
the use of equipment relevant to the field, single-phase 
motors, three-phase motors, direct current motors, three-
phase heating coils, use of an oscilloscope, star-delta 
circuits, and power supply circuits.
04.	 Salary Structure and Salary Scale: Monthly: 
Rs. 50,090 – 10 × 540 – 10 × 630 – 11 × 1,010 – 10 × 1,190 – Rs. 84,420 MT 1 (as per Schedule II of Public Admin-
istration Circular No. 10/2025)
05. Terms of Engagement in Service
	
(i)	 The officers who are recruited shall be willing to serve any part of the island.
	
(ii)	 The post you are appointed to is permanent. You are subject to policy decisions made by the Government in 
future regarding the pension scheme the selected candidates are entitled to. Further, you shall contribute to the 
Widows’ and Orphans’ Pension Fund / Widowers’ and Orphans’ Pension Fund. You shall pay your contribution 
as prescribed by the Government from time to time.
	
(iii)	 This appointment is subject to a probationary period of three years, and the first Efficiency Bar Examination shall 
be passed within three (03) years from the date of recruitment.
	
(iv)	 Proficiency in relevant official language shall be acquired within five (05) years from the date of appointment as 
per the Public Administration Circular No. 18/2020 and other circulars incidental thereto. 
	
(v)	 This appointment is subject to procedural rules of the Public Service Commission, Establishments Code of the 
Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Financial Regulations of the Government, provisions in circulars 
issued by the Government, the recruitment procedure to the post of Electro Medical Technician- management 
Assistant Technical Segment 03 and circulars and General provisions issued by the Secretary to the Ministry of 
Health and Mass media form time to time.
	
(vi)	 The medium you are appointed shall be the medium specified by you in the application.
