ii.	 A candidate must sit all the papers in the 
examination in one and the same language.
	
iii.	 A candidate will not be allowed to change the 
language medium of the examination indicated 
in the application.
13.	 Scheme of Recruitment:
13.1	 Written examination
A written examination will be conducted with 
two (02) papers for the following subjects. The 
subjects and the minimum marks required to 
pass each subject are as follows.

Candidates must sit for all papers.
Written examination syllabus:
01.	 Intelligence test
A question paper consisting of 50 multiple choice and 
short answer questions designed to test the candidate's 
language skills, logical ability, decision-making 
ability and mathematical skills. All questions must be 
answered (Time 01 hour).
02.	 Costing and Statistics:
	
(i.)	 Utilizing costing methods in making management 
decisions.
	
(ii.)	 Identifying material, labour and overhead costs.
	
(iii.)	 Analysis
	
(iv.)	 Utilizing costing methods and costing theories 
such as variable cost, fixed cost, direct and 
indirect cost, long-term and short-term cost, 
economic cost, etc.
	
(v.)	 Providing statistical information for management 
decision making and cost and financial analysis.
	
(vi.)	 A short answer and structured type question 
paper to assess the knowledge of data collection, 
analysis and statistical predictions. All questions 
must be answered (Time - 03 hours).
13.2 Structured Interview:
	
(i.)	
A number of candidates equivalent to twice the 
number of vacancies out of the candidates who 
passed the written examination will be called for 
a structured interview in order of merit, and here 
recruitments will be made in the order of highest 
scoring.
	
(ii.)	
The Structured Interview Board will be appointed 
by the General Manager - Railways and the date 
of the interview will be decided by the General 
Manager -Railways.
	
(iii.)	
The main headings for awarding marks are as 
follows.

Note - When awarding marks under experience, marks will 
be awarded in the structured interview only for additional 
experience in addition to the 02 years considered for 
recruitment, when recruiting based on the qualifications 
specified under 5 (a) (ii). The said experience is considered 
for the period prior to the closing date of the Applications.
N.B.: Facing the structured interview should not necessarily 
mean that the candidate has fulfilled the requisite 
qualifications to receive an appointment.
14.	 The Sri Lanka Railways Department will take steps 
to personally inform all candidates who sat for the 
examination of the results or to publish them on the 
website www:railway.gov.lk.
15.	 If there is any discrepancy or inconsistency between 
the texts of this notification published in the Sinhala, 
Tamil and English media, the Sinhala notification shall
