(f)	 Receipt of applications will not be acknowledged. 
As soon as the admission cards are issued to the 
candidates, a notice will be published on the 
website of the Sri Lanka Railways; www.railway.
gov.lk  stating the same. If the admission card 
is not received even after 2 or 3 days of such a 
notification, steps should be taken to inform to the 
Sri Lanka Railway Department as mentioned in the 
notice. In such notification, it should be mentioned 
the title of the Examination, full name of the 
candidate, National Identity Card Number and the 
address. In case of applicants outside Colombo, a 
letter of request furnishing a WhatsApp number 
to which the admission card should be forwarded 
to the fax number cited in the notification with the 
object of sending a photocopy of the admission 
card by fax. In the instance of such an enquiry 
it would be advisable to keep photocopies of the 
application form, the receipt of payment of the 
Examination fee and receipt of registration post at 
your possession.
08.	 Entrance to the examination:
 (a)	 The General Manager of Railways will issue 
admission cards on the prior assumption that 
only the qualifiers have applied as per the Gazette 
Notification, to candidates who have submitted 
duly completed applications along with the relevant 
receipt after payment of the examination fee on or 
before the last date of receipt of applications. Any 
candidate who fails to produce his admission card 
will not be permitted to sit the examination.
(b)	 A Candidate must sit the Examination at 
the examination hall assigned to him. Every 
candidate presenting himself for the examination 
must produce his admission card on which his 
signature has been attested, to the supervisor 
of the Examination center on the first day. The 
candidate must use the same National Identity 
Card Number as mentioned in his application 
form in the Examination Hall. If any other number 
is entered, the results of that candidate will be 
suspended. A set of rules to be observed by all 
candidates is published in this Gazette. Candidates 
are subjected to rules & regulations imposed by 
the General Manager-Railways on conducting 
the Examination. He is liable to a Punishment 
imposed by the General Manager- Railways for 
breach of these rules.
Note :- The issue of an admission card to a candidate does 
not mean that he/she has fulfilled the requisite qualifications 
for an appointment or to sit the examination.
09)	 Identity of candidates: -
A candidate will be required to prove his identity at the 
Examination Hall to the satisfaction of the supervisor 
for each subject he sits for. For this purpose, any of the 
following documents will be accepted.
(a)	 National 
Identity 
card 
issued 
by 
the 
Department of Registration of persons
(b)	 Valid passport
(c)	 Valid Sri Lankan Driving License 
Candidates must also enter the examination hall 
without covering their faces and ears so that their 
identity can be verified. Candidates who refuse 
to do so will not be admitted to the examination 
hall. Furthermore, candidates must remain without 
covering their faces and ears so that the examination 
authorities can identify them from the moment they 
enter the examination hall until the examination is 
over and they leave.
10.	 Penalty for providing false information
	
If any candidate is found to be ineligible to appear for 
this examination in accordance with the regulations 
applicable to it, his or her candidature may be cancelled 
at any instance before, during or after the examination.
11.	 Any matter not provided for in these regulations will 
be dealt with as determined by the General Manager- 
Railways
12.	 Examination method and examination medium
(a) The examination will be conducted in Sinhala, 
Tamil and English medium. 
(b) The candidate should sit the examination in the 
language in which he passed the qualifying degree 
examination or in an official language.
(c) The candidate who has passed subjects at the 
qualifying degree examination in more than 
one language, should sit the examination in 
the language in which he passed the majority 
of subjects at such examination or in an official 
language.
(d) The candidate with a special degree who has 
passed the principle subject in one language and 
the subsidiary subject in another language should 
sit the examination in the language in which he 
passed the principle subject or in official language.
Note –
	
i.	 The term "qualifying degree" in (b) and (c) 
above refers to the degree qualification referred 
to in paragraph 5 (a).
