(a)	 Educational Qualifications
	
i.	 Having obtained a degree with one of the 
subjects; Commerce, Business Management, 
Information 
Technology, 
Economics, 
Statistics, Cost Management, Mathematics, 
Science from a university recognized by the 
University Grants Commission.
or
	
ii.	 Having experience of 02 years in Cost 
Management with a degree in any stream 
from a recognized university.
Note - The effective date of the degree must be on or before 
the closing date for applications.
Age:
Applicants must be not less than twenty-one (21) years of 
age and not more than thirty-five (35) years of age as at the 
closing date for applications.
Other:
	
(i.)	 All the qualifications required for recruitment to the 
post as mentioned above must be fulfilled in every 
aspect as at the closing date of receipt of applications 
mentioned in the notification of calling applications 
/ Gazette /web site.
	 (ii.)	 No person ordained in religious sect shall be 
permitted to sit this examination.
06.	 Examination Fee:
The examination fee is Rs. 1,200.00. It can be paid at 
any People's Bank branch in the island as on the last 
date of receipt of applications in favour of the General 
Manager of Railways, Mid-City Branch, People's Bank 
Account No. 176-1001090-27314. The receipt issued 
for this purpose should be affixed indelibly in the 
prescribed place on the application form. Money orders 
or stamps will not be replaced for the examination fee. 
The examination fee will not be refunded or transferred 
to another examination under any circumstance. It may 
be useful to keep a photocopy of the receipt.
07.	 Application Method:
(a) The application should be in accordance with the 
specimen form of application attached to this 
announcement, and it should be prepared on both 
sides of the paper on an A4 size paper with the 
headings 1.0 to 2.12 on the first page and 3.0 to 
7.0 on the second page. Computerized/ typewritten 
applications can also be used for this purpose. The 
information mentioned in the application should 
be filled in clearly with your own handwriting, 
and as applications that do not conform to the 
specimen form of application or those with 
incomplete information will be rejected without 
notice, it should be considered to re-check whether 
it conforms to the specimen form of application 
annexed in the examination notification and 
whether the application has been duly completed 
by including all the information and to check 
whether the details have been entered in the 
application form and pasted the receipt, before 
submitting the application. It may also be useful 
to keep a photocopy of the completed application 
form and a photocopy of the receipt of payment of 
the examination fee.
(b) The applicant must complete the application in 
the language in which he/she intends to sit for the 
examination. When preparing the application, it is 
essential to mention the name of the examination in 
English language as well, in applications prepared 
in both Sinhala and Tamil media.
(c)	 The 
duly 
completed 
application 
for 
the 
examination should be sent to the following 
address by registered post to be received on or 
before 24.08.2026. The envelope containing 
the application should be clearly marked "Open 
Examination for Recruitment to the post of 
Transport Costing Officer - Grade III in Sri 
Lanka Railways - 2026". No any application 
received after that date will be entertained.

(d) The applicant's signature on the application form 
and on the admission card for the examination 
must be attested by a Principal of a Government 
school, a Justice in Peace, a Commissioner for 
Oaths, an Attorney-at-law, a Notary Public, a 
commissioned Officer of the Tri-Forces, an Officer 
holding a Gazetted post in the Police Service or a 
Staff Grade Officer holding a permanent post in 
the Government whose monthly salary is more 
than Rs. 71,240.00.
(e)	 Any applications which is not complete in every 
aspect is liable to be rejected. No complaint that 
an application has been lost or delayed will be 
considered.
