II.	 Appointment shall be subject to a probation period of three (03) years. The officer shall pass the First Efficiency Bar 
Examination within three (03) years from the date of appointment, in accordance with the Scheme or Recruitment.
	
III.	 The appointee shall acquire proficiency in the prescribed Official Language(s) in terms of the provisions of Public 
Administration Circular No. 18/2020 dated 16.10.2020 and the relevant circulars issued thereto.
	
IV.	 The appointment shall be governed by the provisions of the revised Scheme of Recruitment approved by the Public 
Service Commission under No. PSC/EST/5/1/24/2/2012 and dated 31.05.2024 in respect of the post of Legal 
Officer of the Executive Service Category of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with any amendments made 
or to be made thereto, the general conditions governing appointments in the Public Service, the Procedural Rules 
of the Public Service Commission, the Establishment Code of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka  the 
Financial Regulations of the Government, departmental orders and circular instructions issued by the Government 
from time to time.
	
V.	 The medium of language applied for shall not be changed subsequently. Eligibility for appointment shall be 
determined on the basis of the language medium indicated in the application.

(a)   Postgraduate Degree in Law obtained from a University recognized 
by the University Grants Commission
(b) Postgraduates Diploma in Law obtained from a University 
recognized by the University Grants Commission or Post-Attorney 
Diploma awarded by the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies of 
the Sri Lanka Law College.
(c) LL.B Degree obtained from a University recognized by the 
University Grants Commission with:
•	 First Class Honours
•	 Second Classs (Upper Division) Honours
•	 Second Class (Lower Division) Honours
•	 Pass Degree
(d) First Class Pass at the Final Examination of the Sri Lanka Law 
College
Second Class Pass at the Final Examination of the Sri Lanka Law 
College
Note I : The above 05 marks shall be awarded only if the candidate has 
passed the Final Examination of the Sri Lanka Law College 
with Honours.
Note II : Marks shall be awarded only for the highest qualifications.
